Information Technology in Public Service
Our Tech and Public Administration Course was designed perfectly to help future public managers develop the skills and techniques to evaluate, participate in, and lead information technology projects that can enhance or even revolutionize government operations. Given the increasing integration of information technology into government processes and the impact it could have on services rendered to the public, understanding the role of information and technology has become a critical necessity for all public managers rather than just a luxury. This course equips public managers with the knowledge and tools to effectively manage information as a resource and leverage technology to improve government services. Topics covered include e-government/e-governance, strategic IT management, change management, information resource, and knowledge management, financing IT projects, and IT project and performance management.
Transparency, Failures, Influence and Connections
Many governments have implemented various technological initiatives to connect with constituents, such as social media platforms, government websites, and mobile applications. These technologies have enabled governments to communicate more efficiently with their citizens, provide information about government services and policies, and receive feedback from their constituents. However, there have been instances where governments have faced criticism for handling technology-related issues. For example, data breaches and cybersecurity threats have raised concerns about the security of government information systems. In some cases, governments have also faced criticism for their lack of transparency and accountability regarding the use of technology. This is a revision of our Final Exam that examines the government's ability to withstand the challenges of project failure, maintain transparency, and thrive while connecting to its society.
